Well so much for my first hurricane experience. Just happens that the county I live in is in the best possible position where Charley hit. We aren’t getting any rain and most likely won’t get more then just a few showers. The winds are just strong breezes at best. Since we are on the northwest side of the storm, we have the mildest weather. Oh well, I suppose dodging a catagory 4 hurricane is good news.

It is nearly 7:30am and hurricane Charley is just off the coast of Key West. I’ll admit, I am a little scared but I know I’ll be fine. The NOAA/NHC is predicting the eye of the storm to hit just north of the mouth of Tampa Bay. Coincidentally, right where I am located. It is predicted to be a catagory 3 (winds between 111-130 mph) by the time it hits the coastline. A lot of people have left the apartment complex for higher ground. This should pose as one of the most memorable days in my life.
Only 5 weeks down here and I get my first hurricane. Bonnie missed us but Charlie is on its way. About a third of the county is under an evacuation. It effects me as well but I am not sure if we are mandatory yet. I know along the coast it is but we’re just 5-7 miles from the coast.
I thought I’d write before the internet goes out. I know half of Tampa is getting the power cut early to avoid complications. I’m gonna wait for my room mate to get home and see what we are gonna do. I was let outta work early today cause the store was closing early due to the hurricane warning.
I’ll write again later, probably tomorrow if I can if not the next day.

My name is Erin. I was not always named Erin and I was not always a girl. One could argue that I am not a girl, perhaps a boy or both; maybe neither.
