Transgeneration: Part 1

September 21, 2005  |  LiveJournal  |  5 Comments

Last night I caught the first part in the 8 part series of Transgeneration on the Sundance Channel. I just want to say that I enjoyed the documentary. It didn’t make me feel funny or sad about being older. It was a good show. My mom wanted to watch it but they don’t get the Sundance Channel. Does anyone know if they will be offering the series on DVD at a later date?

The wrath of the internet

I think the single best feature about the internet is it’s immensely fast communication links. Something gets posted in Madrid and it has propagated itself around the globe 10 times in a matter of days. The internet is a modern marvel, it really is. Another wonderful aspect of the internet, to most, is the annonymous nature of it. For the most part, your identity is hidden from the general audiences and this can be good or bad.

My beef is the annonymous nature of the internet. I do appreciate this aspect of it but then again, I really hate it. It allows people to re-invent their personalities online and try to be [pose] as someone or something else. Where as this can be fun and innocent, I think on average it isn’t.

The past week, since I activated my Yahoo! 360 account, I been bombarded with instant messages and emails. This is what it was like a couple years ago when I first got online and was naive. The audacity of most men disgusts me. It’s almost like, just because I am online, they think I am looking for sex, I want to cyber or webcam with this stranger. This goes for men who know I’m trans or don’t. If they find out I’m trans (not hard to do if you read my profile but who reads anyway?) it’s almost like an instant invitation to ask if they can suck my dick. WTF! how rude! I wonder why these things troll the internet instead of being out in public.

Anyway, what really burns my blood are the pathetic men who pose as women thinking that I’ll give up more to them because they are posing as a girl. One thing I have learned transitioning, the way you talk is just as important as the way you sound. It gets quite easy to figure out this “girl” is really a horny dude. The best ones are the “only one photo” in the profile, can’t send other photos because they don’t have any other’s on their computer or online and the webcam is broke or they don’t have one. Give me a break.

I’ve chatted with enough women to easily see a difference in the chosen words and struture of sentances. Women, for the most part, aren’t nearly as forward. They actually wanna talk to you a bit then they get into something else if that is what they’re interested in. That’s fine, they aren’t nasty or rude about it. It’s almost polite.

Men beware, imposters beware, I won’t take your shit. To others, don’t freely email out photos to strangers, I’d at least ask for some first just to see or a webcam. Unless that is your thing, go ahead but it’s not mine. It is nearly impossible to really trust anyone for who they say they are these days. I’m more like, flick your cam on, that is proof enough for me that the person matches the profile.

Drivers Worldwide Feel Sting of Gas Prices

August 26, 2005  |  LiveJournal  |  4 Comments

A very interesting article: (Source)

While Americans consider driving wherever and whenever they want a basic right, Europeans traditionally have considered cars as only one way of getting around. Subways, trams and buses are well maintained and dependable in most major European cities, and some — like London — have introduced inner-city driving fees to reduce congestion.

In Norway, for instance, a 100-percent tax on new cars doubles what might otherwise be the sticker price.

Dutch gas, at $6.56 a gallon, is more than twice what Americans have to pay.

Compounding the pain are wages that are in most cases lower than those of Americans.

On the lower end of the scale is Hungary, where gas at $5.28 a gallon takes a painful chunk out of the average yearly paycheck of $11,440.

“If gas stays so high, I’ll never have the money to get married and have kids,” said Jean-Louis Pierre, 25.

This is just insane and I sympathize. I cannot believe all the fools who like to drive big, clunky, environmentally NOT friendly vehicles that get a kick-ass 7 miles to the gallon. If/when I get a new/used vehicle in the future, fuel efficiency will be one of the top priorities. It was years ago when I bought my S10 with a 4-cylinder engine, also low insurance too.

I recently looked into hybrid cars from Honda and Toyota, you know, not that great increase over a standard gas engine but 30% more expensive. The Honda hybrids are basically a gas-engine coupled with an electric motor that helps it out in certain instances. The gain? For the V6 hybrid is like 7-8 MPG better and for the 4 cylinder, was like about the same, I think less. Just not worth it in my opinion. The Federal Government gives you a one-time tax deduction of $2000.00 for purchasing a hybrid/alternative fueled vehicle. So that $35,000 Hybrid Accord saves you about 7 MPG and ends up costing $33,000 roughly before taxes and fees. Whoopee… not.

After a blah week…

The hairless walk…
I had my 4th laser session Saturday morning. I went to a knew office,
one that is owned and operated by two transsexual women. I heard about
them through a friend. They did a remarkable job in my opinion. She
pulsed my face like twice if not three times the amount the previous
laser place did. It was painful though, as she used the highest setting
because she said my face tolerated the test shots well and it wasn’t so
unbearable I couldn’t stand it. My belly was really painful though,
ouch. The best part, $300 less per session then the place I was going
to. Which reminds me, I need to cancel that appointment in September
with them :P

A new life
One of my best friends called my Friday to tell me he and his wife had
a baby on Thursday!  I was really happy to hear about it but I was
like, I didn’t even know she was pregnant?  He told me in the wake
of my coming-out to him, it sorta slipped his mind.  It’s cool
though, I wasn’t upset and totally understood.  I don’t get to
talk to him much, not sure why, maybe it is just that re-adjustment
time that some people need.  The important thing is that he’s
still my friend :)   I’m happy for the both of them.  I think
their wedding was the last performance as a man.  I was in the
groom’s wedding party :P

A start of a second life
I spent most of Saturday running around St. Petersburg and Tampa.
After laser I had a car to look at and a townhouse.  Not having
any air conditioning in this state at this time of the year is
unbearable.  So I thought, well maybe I can get a new intermediate
car.  I looked at a Honda Accord one person was selling.
Reasonably priced and in decent condition.  I slept on it and
decided no.  I really don’t have the extra money each month for a
car payment, even if it might only be $100.  So, I guess I can
just stick it out until next spring and have the winter to figure
something out.   The townhouse I looked at was absolutely
wonderful.  Tori found it on Craig’s list so we decided to check
it out.  Well she couldn’t since she’s in Raleigh so I went and
took about a dozen plus a few photos of the place and neighborhood so
Tori could get the best feeling for it.  It’s in a great location,
Hyde Park, about mile or two west of downtown Tampa just a few blocks
from the bay.  It’s in a quiet and safe neighborhood which is what
we both want and it has the room we need as well.  I’m gonna be
signing a lease and putting a deposit on it this week.  The owner
is really nice in holding the place until the beginning of November
when my lease is up at my current apartment.

The machine you call a computer
So I finally got my new shuttle box set up for use as my primary
computer.  This has been a severe pain in my side for one reason
only… Windows XP64.  It was my mistake to buy this operating
system with my computer.  It only uses 64 bit drivers thus nothing
on the mainboard CD’s worked, I had to download them and burn a CD with
my old computer… fine.  Then to find out, that some of the
applications I use the most and really need do not work or install
properly.  My webcam won’t work since Logitech doesn’t have 64 bit
drivers for it, let alone any of their hardware and the ATI software
that comes with the driver (newest version from ATI now) for my video
card, crashes when started up.  *sigh*  So I finally bit the
bullet and re-formated and re-installed my old 32 bit version of
Windows XP.  What a waste of money on that 64 bit OS.  I have
to say though, the 64 bit version of Windows is faster in boot-up and
tasks while running then it’s 32 bit counter-part.

My Favorite Magazine

Women's Health Magazine
I love reading Women’s Health Magazine. I bought one issue about 4 months ago because it looked interesting while browsing at it waiting in line at Wal-Mart. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the entire magazine I picked up a subscription at like $8.00 for the year; they’re published bi-monthly. I have never read a magazine that I enjoy all the content. I got my second issue last month and just finished reading it last night. It’s cool that it’s bi-monthly too because it takes me awhile to read the entire magazine due to time issues. The best part, it’s not full of all that girls crap about being thin, glamour, clothes, etc… everything that makes you wish you were something else. What WH does have are real women and real issues that make you feel like one of the girls and they discuss things that are attainable and everyday obstacles or pleasures. It’s great!!

A thought about the space shuttle…

August 1, 2005  |  LiveJournal  |  5 Comments

NASA’s current fleet of 3 shuttles are descendant of the 1970′s technology. Of course NASA has been upgrading parts on the shuttle fleet with some of today’s and yesterday’s techonology but you have to wonder… Two years ago Columbia disintegrated while returning from a space flight, cause: a foam panel breaking off and hitting the wing damaging the tiles that are supposed to protect the shuttle from heat upon re-entry. Re-entry temperatures are in the neighborhood of 2300 degrees farenheit thus having a piece of the shuttle’s shell exposed would be catastrophic.

Present day, space shuttle Discovery launched last week to everybody’s surprise, a piece of foam paneling was seen breaking off the shuttle. Now didn’t NASA spend 2 years trying to correct this problem and it happened again? What the hell were they doing? I only hope that this shuttle returns safely because if not, I’m sure NASA will get so much heat they’ll burn up. There are 3 shuttles left and they are supposed to last until about 2010 before being replaced with a new fleet of modern space shuttles. By then, I’m sure the private sector will have vehicles that will get into the outer atmosphere and into space. I wonder how the private sector is going to impact NASA in the future.

Billions of dollars were spent to make Discovery safe and to prevent a re-occurance of Columbia. I think they failed.
